How is psychology important

Psychology is the behavioural science. Psychology as a science helps us to understand, control and predict behaviour, performance, and mental health.  It deals with our conscious, subconscious and unconscious mind. It also refers to the application of the knowledge, which can be used to understand education, employment, and relationships. Human beings are known as social animal. They live in social situations from birth to death. Their personality is shaped by the interaction of external social environment. Human beings follow the cultural and religious actions also from the society.

To know the innate nature of the child’s qualities, instinct, urges, his /her inner talent and behaviour in the class in different way. Educational psychology helps to modify this behaviour in a positive manner. Every individual is unique in nature. His/her abilities, achievement, grasping etc. is different from each other. The knowledge of educational psychology helps parents and teachers to deal with the child and know the latent talent of a child.

Child is born with some innate behaviour. Some children are stubborn, fearful, annoyed, and anxious from childhood. If parents and teachers have the knowledge of educational psychology, they can deal with the situations. Mental health of a child is very important. The teacher by contacting their parents occasionally must discuss the development of the child. Personality develops if the mental health of a child is taken care of.

Educational psychology helps parents and teachers to understand the various aspects of learning such as Method, Process, Laws of learning etc. Thus it helps to modify the teaching procedure for making learning successful. All children are not alike. Different methods can be adopted by the teachers to solve the classroom teachings. Introduce various teaching methods to develop the interest of the child. Teacher can thus use different teaching aids to improve teaching and create curiosity in the child.

The teachers and parents must understand the importance of their responsibilities. They should not show their stress and tension in front of them. Educational psychology helps the teacher to know and understand the importance of their responsibilities with efficiency. To understand the mind of the child and guide it whenever necessary.

Parents and teachers should know the interest, aptitude and potential of the child. Without comparison they must handle them with care as these children are fragile in nature.

The curriculum which revolves round the student like concentric approach/topical approach of the subject which will be related to the child’s real-life situation. Thus, educational psychology helps to create child-centred curriculum.

Discipline cannot be forced. Educational psychology helps to understand the mind of the child and helps to maintain self-discipline.

To control the mind, one must go deep down to subconscious mind, thoughts and different impression etc. By the control of the subconscious mind one gets control over the conscious.
