Role of Mass Media

Mass media is a word which is very popular amongst all sections of the society. It is a medium or channel of communication which helps in transmitting messages.
- Supplementary and complementary learning :- Mass media helps in better understanding.
E.g (1) while teaching about Bhagat Singh and his protest we can show a movie to the students, related to his life and his contribution e.g. (2) while teaching Transport in Economics it can be shown by posters, Neon signs etc. - Teach syllabus with various electronic modes :- The teacher can make use of mass media to teach the actual syllabus.
E.g. While teaching a chapter on Expansion of business, the movie “GURU” can be shown and then it can be related to the chapter while teaching. - Build Scientific Temper :- It enables people to overcome superstitions and develop scientific temper
- Reflecting Current Events:- It enables students to know the current events
E.g T.V programmes from NDTV Profit can give an outlook on current inflation - Group instruction:- Large number of people together take part in it .
e.g Marathon or Beijing Olympics for economic growth. - Use of leisure time:- Relieving stress to be more active in the following day
- Develop critical thinking
- Variety of teaching
